Coco lee lived in Taiwan, but do you know Taiwanese speak other language diffirent with both Cantonese and Mandarin. THey are Minnanese(Hokkien)(70%) and Hakka(14%). Mandarin is only 14% but is official language of Taiwan now because policy of KMT.

Mandarin or Cantonese has enough factors from population, words,vocabulary, grammar to become diffirent language.

Cantonese is a dialect of the Chinese language. So is Mandarin, etc... Mandarin was a reduction of a lot of sounds from southeastern Chinese dialects. You would only categorize the dialects individually as a "language" and not a "dialect" IF you are NOT Chinese! Since you said what you said, I don't think you're Chinese, but rather a foreign Sinologist who don't know crap about Chinese, and distort the facts! STHU!

OMG! I'd dare to say that CoCo Lee is the best Chinese singer alive, not only can she sing brilliantly in English "Run away Bride" anyone? and she can sing in Cantonese better than than original as well "and she didn't even have to use her R&B skills like she does in English", how can anyone not love and respect her?
