It is typical for pet stores to tell customers that their puppies come from licensed breeders. What they dont say is that many USDA-licensed dog breeders maintain kennels like the one shown in this video, shot in March 2009. Best Friends has compiled this and other video footage to show the public what it really means to be a licensed breeder. To learn more about how puppies from kennels like this often end up for sale in retail pet stores, visit our website: http://puppiesarentproducts.com/

  • i got my min pin from them. i didnt think it was anything like this. should i be worried? the vet told me hes healthy. is what theyre doing harmful??

  • Hello paulandkamelya,

We post these videos to help raise awareness and to show people what particular kennels look like because puppies are often sold out of state, with buyers never seeing where their puppy comes from. I'm glad your puppy is healthy. If you click on the link we added to the video, you can view Kewl Kennel's inspection reports, which do contain voilations. This is a commercial kennel--a controversial way to raise puppies.

  • They now have a new website called pomonapuppies. com/id1.html.

  • @kewelkennelbuyer There is no way you were told the puppy you were sold was raided underfoot because these people are honest and don't lie to their clients. Each puppy is raised in a house that has been converted into a kennel, which resembles a veterinary office. Don't believe everything you hear!

  • @kidscause I purchased a puppy from Kewl Kennel and visited this facility. This is NOT the facility they use. This facility was only temporary and used to house the dogs that were rescued and eventually placed in homes. Although it looks run down from the outside, each area the dogs were provided was clean, housed with shelter, food, and water, just until they were found homes. I agree with kidscause...would people rather see a dog running the streets and starving or lying dead in the road?

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF THE PUPPIES DONT SELL?? WHERE DO THEY END UP??

  • I see this video was shot in March 2009 and I bought my puppy in March 2009. Wonderful. Glad to see that this is why I had to spend upwards of $500 to bring him back to health and why the poor puppy was suffering so bad. THIS is what the breeder calls "being raised underfoot in their kitchen!?!?" This place needs to be shut down. Horrible.

  • @gabbythegabby

When I was sold my puppy, I was told they were raised in the breeder's house underfoot. CLEARLY, by watching the video and reading your statements, that was not the case.

  • I purchased a puppy from Kewl Kennel (now POMONA Puppies) a year ago and he DID come with MANY undisclosed problems such has kennel cough, stage 5 parasites (which my vet said was the WORST case he has even seen in 20 years of practice), and a severe double ear infection. He is fine now but beware of purchasing from them. My vet said they are without a doubt, a puppy mill, and that it is evident by the massive amounts of different breeds which are sold there. I feel so sorry for the puppies!
