@Fx4Ranger2002 Just a simple mistake. GVW is the maximum allowable weight your vehicle is legally allowed to weigh on a public road. Curb weight is what your vehicle actually weighs off the assembly line.
The GVW on my 4.0L 2wd is 4700lbs (1200lb maximum load weight and 3500lb truck)
The GVW on my 1989 Lincoln is 5200lbs (1450lb maximum load weight and 3750lb car)
The GVW on my 1978 Lincoln is 5800lbs (1300lb maximum load weight and 4500lb car)

@Penisbaby101 Gross vehicle weight is the stock vehicle being weighed on the assembly line, im pretty sure the Ranger outweighs an old lincoln by a few pounds. Maybe a stripped 2wd single cab model weighs 3900lbs but I can assure you my Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab is 5120. I have hauled about 2800lbs of patio bricks in the bed of it, the only trailor pulling ive done with it though is with a 17' bass boat which only weighs about 1500lbs with the trailor

@Fx4Ranger2002 GVW is what the truck can handle maxed out, not what it weighs standard. 4.0 XLT models are able to load 1,200lbs subtract that from the gross weight and your truck actually weighs about 3,900lbs empty.
You would have to drive a heavy vehicle to really notice how light our Rangers are. Ive had some 4,500lb Lincolns and my Rangers dont feel anywhere as heavy as those old Lincolns.

@chiaandleo All vehicles break down, some are just better at taking beatings than others. And let me tell you that a Ford Ranger outlasts s-10s and Blazers by many years. Dont believe me? take a look around, lots of people are still driving Rangers and Explorers that are 10+ years old, you hardly ever see any s-10s or blazers that old because they all died and went to the junk yard to rust awhile back. Rangers and Explorers also have more horsepower and torque, their also wider

@Penisbaby101 I dunno, my 02 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 says GVW:5120lbs(gross vehicle weight). Jeep cherokees, blazers and explorers weigh only about 250-300lbs more than that which seems about right. 3500lbs would be about what a large sedan or a very small older single cab truck would weigh like a 2wd frontier,tacoma,s-10.sonoma which are all smaller, narrower, and have smaller engines than the Ranger.

@zachattack19961 Yeah maybe if you like taking your new Tacoma to Toyota for recalls on a monthy basis. Or maybe if you want a truck with a frame made out of stamped sheet metal, or where every power option will fail within three years and youll be spewing oil from your engine at 60,000 miles. Toyota isnt what it used to be, they are only good at making 100 horsepower economy cars. Ford Rangers last many years longer
-
nice truck, BUT, Tacoma's the way to go.

maybe you should lift your truck alittle higher for big rocks and a big load of water
yea thats really 2+ feet of snow, sike.

I used to take my open differential(1wd)2wd ranger off road all the time. Once i put a locker in it never got stuck unless it was to low for the trail. I have a 4x4 now with a locked front and rear and it never gets stuck. I pull everyone else out.
those guys saying Rangers weight 5000lbs you are reading the gross weight not the curb weight. I scrap and my 2wd extended cab on the scale is 3500lbs empty with me in it. My 4x4 extended cab is 3700lbs. 4000lbs with all options maybe. not 5000lbs
