Listen to the wisdom of our elders who at the time of this interview had been married for 66 years. With the marriage ending rate for ALL couples in America ( Regardless of race) being over 50%, there is so much wisdom that we cannot afford to ignore, from our elders. They stayed together through trials that people don't endure today. People dismiss their "til' death do us part" vows as if they were dinner reservations- at the slightest sign of unhappiness, instead of working on it.

Song: Lorraine-Marvin Gaye Sings the Songs of Nat King Cole

**There is a study quoted in another video called "But Will It Last?":
Marital Instability Among Interracial and Same-Race Couples."

Here is a key finding (ignored in the "Black Women: Marriage is Forever" video)- "we compare the likelihood of divorce for interracial couples to that of same-race couples. Comparisons across marriage cohorts reveal that, overall, interracial couples have higher rates of divorce."
*On the whole, interracial marriages are less stable.*

Friendship is also the most solid foundation for a happy & lasting marriage;

It is interesting to note that prior to the early 1900s, everyone on earth, with very few exceptions, knew that marriage to one's own racial kind, was the most natural and undisputed of all human traditions. The evidence of this powerful genetic wisdom is seen in the reality that 93% of all those who marry or couple, still do so with a member of their own race. This, despite a 50-year campaign to darken the white races and lighten the dark races into a beige that nature did not paint.

The myth surrounding Black men and inter racial marriage is perpetuate by whom and for what reason? First, less than 5% of Black people marry inter racially. Second, Blacks are the most conservative people in the country when it comes to interracial marriage. Third, BM marry WW at double the rates that BW marry WM, however, BM have the highest divorce rate in the country with WW. Read & research for your self.

Just think of whom benefits from keeping BM & BW at each others throats? Why aren't the real facts about BM coming out? Why do they keep saying there are more BM in prison than in college, when it is not true? There are 800,000 BM in the prison system at any given time & that number is dropping dramatically due to the success of drug courts & several other factors. Why DOES the press keeping feeding YOU so many wrong & out dated statistics? Who is getting paid and who is getting depressed and angry?
*Why do we have computers at our finger tips and refuse to seek the truth but rather continue to speak with emotion first? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interracial_marriage_in_the_United_States#Interr... , does not jive with the perception on BM and marriage. All in all BM marry BW 95% of the time. BM have a usually high rate of divorce in inter racial marriages. So what looks like BM are leaving BW can be VERY DECEIVING!
In 2007, 4.6% of all married Blacks in the United States were wed to a White partner, and 0.4% of all Whites were married to a Black partner. We buy into it like crack.

*Black media gets off on it too. ( But ALL of this is created by Jewish media ( Time Newsweek, ABC, CNN, FOX, ESSENCE - yep, now owned by Time Newsweek) They know how to push Black women's hot buttons.
It must stop. You must stop allowing it.

  • that was so beautiful. i got choked up for a minute, lol. this is definitely something i want for me and my boyfriend. this is inspiring, but sad to say that it's becoming so rare. the best advice for anyone seeking this is make sure you are friends first! me and my bf have been friends for 4 yrs & its such a blessing.

  • @zunefreakster Thank you for watching Zune.. I agree.. friendship is the vital foundation for a happy and lasting relationship & marriage. Best wishes to you.

  • As long as he is not a cheater, marriage is for life

  • @TheDivineLife thankfully, the couple in this video understood that it is FOR LIFE.. and they got beyond his one time infidelity. He repented and she forgave him.

THAT is love. Not too many people these days know what either love or commitment are.

  • My parents have been happily married for 38, going on 39 years. My parents are each other's best friend. Their relationship keeps hope alive in my heart that true love exists & that maybe one day I might find it too.

I asked my dad "What is the key to a successful marriage?" I will never forget what he said. He said: "You should never stop dating your wife. Keep doing the things you did when you were dating. Tell that person you appreciate them & love them. If you don't, someone else will."

  • I love this. This can make someone cry. There is also this black couple that broke the record for te longest marriage: 86 YEARS! Unforunately the husband died shortly before the 87th anniversary. The link doesn't work but their name is Herbet and Zelmyra fisher. You can google them.

Marriage is so beautiful, but too many people don't see it's value now and some even run away from it. I will to be one of those people married for 50+ years God willing.

  • My grandparents were married 81 1/2 years before she died at 98 and he at 104. She was black and white....drewwillie malcom. may god bless her soul.

  • Let me first say this, aint nothing like recieving wisdom from wise people full of splendor. Second, they are absolutely right when they said nowadays folks just get married with no committment. Third, I LOVE IT!!

  • @NeophyteProselyte Ya right they people live in diferent area than us plus they probably had to stay together for economic reason I have never wet any one mairred and happy I have ben lied to about millions of times

  • I love this video,it's great. T.

  • Beautiful. It is rare to see loving black families being portrayed on TV except by Tyler Perry. This is really sad. The black community and especially the black family has been under attack for many decades and hundreds of years. WE do need to go back to loving one another. Just basic concern and care. We had such love for one another when we had nothing. Now that many have become successful we have turned away from one another. And most important and foremost....God.

  • Thanks so much for posting this...

  • This is beautiful. This kind of thing is not common in these times. Divorce is the norm. Videos and stories like this are an inspiration to me. They let me know that love like this still exists and that it is possible with work and commitment. Thank you for posting this and giving me some hope.

  • Real Talk...ahhh that's what I like. I appreciate the wisdom from my elders. It's a fact there will be issues but love for Jesus and the mate will carry you through. I love this couple
