A tribute to the amazing trolley operation in Vancouver. Out there, modern, accesible, reliable, efficient low floor trolleybuses provide the backbone of the service without issue or controversy. A very marked difference from the state of affairs in Edmonton.

I just came back from Vancouver. I really liked the trolley system, one thing I notice is the wires looks old to me. A lot of the hangers and switches were red like rust. Other than that, the system was awsome.

Vancouver's system has a lot more original wire than Edmonton's did. In Edmonton, all of the wire west of 124 St (except Westmount) was either put up or completley redone in the early 1980's. It's noticable in the fact that K&M overhead is relativley rare in Vancouver, when compared to Edmonton.

It's a shame after all the wire upgrades Edmonton did like what you said and the new switches at Jasper Place and the new wire at Rossdale and 101St and Jasper ave, now it's all comming down after recently been done. I only saw some K&M overhead by the UBC and Stanley park.

It's also out at Metrotown Station, Victoria between Kingsway and 41st, and a couple short stretches on Powell and Dunbar.

yep i feel sorrey for edmenton but back here in vanbcouver were getting 5 e900 and 5 e901 and 5 e902 trolleys to be fixed for some service in a vintage trolley road that is vancouvers little secret and how do i kno i talked to the ceo john timms and he told me and on that secret line we have some trolleys from too long then we thougfht we have our 15 e901 e902 and e900 with the ghost trolley e901 WERE GETTING 5 OF THE GMC FISHBOWL TROLLEYS FOR TRAMS!

yep and to all the vancouveretts were getting some orion vii;s thay look almost like the new flyer d40lfrs and were gettin our fishbowl busses back and surreys getin trolleys!!!!

That's exactly right.  I'm moving to Vancouver next year so I won't be a shame Edmontonian anymore.

yep, pretty shame how you guys don't have trolleys no more, this makes Vancouver the only city in Canada with a current Trolleybus fleet. Pretty sad.
