I would like to give him the tittle "The Funkin' Comedian'. His pink outfit with the white boots is hilarious! But you forget laughing since your body wants to groove on the music. Look at that hipster black audience, I just would like to go back in time and ask one of these girls to marry me!

Rufus Thomas, Jr. (March 27, 1917 -- December 15, 2001) was an American rhythm and blues, funk and soul singer and comedian from Memphis, Tennessee, who recorded on Sun Records in the 1950s and on Stax Records in the 1960s and 1970s.

  • Thanks for the video. Where can I find this on dvd? I remember trying to learn the breakdown dance. Rufus was known as the oldest teen-ager.

  • @nutothis1 Search Wattstax festival on Amazon, there's a DVD

  • Respond to this video...

  • @2fresh2clean100 I was lucky to be around back then, although I only go as far back as the Funky Chicken.

  • @tolucawood He should be on Unsung, along with his daughter Carla.

  • @afrogurl I think the Funky Chicken was his encore.
