im in the wrong century. the 70's had sexier cars, dangerous chases, the drivers had steel balls, and the old women kicked ass. current directors are morons if they think we cant tell the difference between CGI and real chases.and that Europa is going on my Christmas list.
Just found out that a DVD of this film will be released in Feb. 2011. But I can't find out any more details about the audio track. I won't be surprised if they screw its fans over again, by omitting Grodin's voice overs. But I will be extremely disappointed in The Shout Factory, if that's the case. Omitting the voice-overs is the cheapest way. And too many DVD labels take this route. Like how Anchor Bay omitted the rock music from their Greatest American Hero sets.
datu53: The movie title is actually "11 Harrowhouse". "11" is not spelled out. It makes it harder to find this clip with the very few other clips from this movie. A shame as this is the longest one, ever! Could you add the tag or edit the description? I only wish anyone had the voice over version by Charles Grodin. That was missing in the last VHS release. I don't know if the Laser disc had it. Love a DVD to exist with the track as an option. Why isn't this classic on Disc? Gem dealers hate it.
The gearboxes were quite reliable, it was the linkage that was troublesome. I had 3 different Europas, a S1, S2 and Twin Cam 5 speed...I put 700,000 miles on the S2, several engines ranging from near stock to 1800plusCC cross flow Gordini based motor with big side draft Webers and headers, but always the same gearbox, only the oil seals were changed once, it held up stunningly well.
Well I don't know if Colin Chapman had intended his cars to be good getaway cars but they surely were nimble, especially the original Elan. Don't know much about the Europa other that it was very low and therefore difficult to get out of or into and had a Renault gearbox which was prone to some difficulties.
Colin Chapman's genius was always more evident in his revolutionary designs in Formula 1.

@youtub3k --- I happen to agree. I much prefer the version with Grodin's incredibly dry voice overs and would dearly love to see it on DVD.

Renault gearbox and engine are very reliable, far much reliable than twin cam Lotus Ford motor...
