The incredible thing about Jesus though, is that it wasn't that he was promised to be King and that motivated him. It is the fact that, being God, He already was King yet still came to die the death that we deserve so that we might have relationship with Him again. We accomplish this through faith and not works because we can never earn God's favor. The debt is death, not works. Jesus, God himself, pays that for us.

Maybe it doesn't have to be one or the other. Latter Day Saint theology teaches that "this life is the time to prepare to meet God." I agree with you. The idea that completely ignoring the here and now in favor of something later on is pointless.

A very interesting point! Where you said, If I could be king for eternity if I just had to die on a cross. It really diminishes this "sacrifice".

About "being good". Can human's even choose to be good and moral? Is not everything we do the result of something else or someone else? Human's have no free will because of this, so human's cannot be "good". If human's cannot be "good", than every religious person who depends on their own good works for salvation are at a loss.

I just wanted to give my insight becase so many people don't believe simply because they have a misunderstanding of what it truely means to become a Christian. If you ever have questions about it, seriously no matter how difficult, don't hesitate to ask. You won't offend me at all and it won't change the way I think about you at all.
