Liz Elliott speaks about the three big lies gangs tell and compares them to the criminal justice system

Dr. Liz Elliott is a Co-Director of the Centre for Restorative Justice and an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminology. She is a former social worker and has extensive field experience in the areas of community and prison justice. Her teaching and research interests include transformative justice, abolitionism, prison justice, prison education and writing, sociology of punishment, criminal justice ethics, and violence in Canadian society. Dr. Elliott is the ongoing course instructor for CRIM 315 (Restorative Justice), and also teaches courses in corrections and criminological theory.

Dr. Elliott is also a co-founder of the Mission Restorative Justice Coalition, and a board member of the West Coast Prison Justice Society. Liz has also received training in peacemaking circles, the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program, Transformative Justice Australia conferencing and the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP). She is a member of the Citizens' Advisory Committee to Mission Institution and an active AVP facilitator.
