January 27, 2012:
We see TTC last H4 train arriving at Islington westbound train on run 64. We also take a ride on it to Kipling to see it last trip to Kipling from Islington. We take a quick shot of the interior. The train was to depart Greenwood yard at 7:25 am and then depart at 7:44 am from the last east station at Kennedy. It was due at Islington station about 8:30 am, but was about 10 minutes late. The rail fan seat and the cab area was fill with transit fans getting their last run on this train. The train is 35 years old and has no AC in them, which is not fun on a very hot summer day. They had the best seats in the system that where cushion that were orange and grey material. The train will head back to Kennedy station and go out of service for the final time. It will head back to the Greenwood yard to be decommission and strip of all it parts. Once the stripping is done, it will be tow to the Davisville yard, where it will be place on a trailer for the scrap yard. The H4 cars are being replace by the T1 cars off the YUS line, as they are being replace by the New TR articulate trains. We will pass Runs 61 and 62 on our trip to Kipling Station.

  • The TTC's scrap yard for subway cars is at Wilson Yard, not Greenwood.

  • @smwca123 I was told Greenwood for this train, but where every it was going to be strip, it will leave the system by Davisville. The tender call for the cars to departed that way and that was has taken place so far, as people have seen this move.

  • @Transitdrum118 Every time I ride by Wilson I see at least one car at the north end of that yard, waiting to go out to scrap.

  • @smwca123 I did some asking around at TTC meeting on Tuesday and all the cars are to go out of Wilson now. I was surprised when I read the tender that the cars were to go by Davisville considering its not an easy sit to ship large objects to/from in the first place. When I have gone by Wilson, I see the same thing to the point there is a car and bus sitting there since early last year or longer for some reason other been held for someone. The car has been tag more times than enough.

  • it would of been nice if you met a cp freight or a go train

  • @cn78356 If you noticed in the distance, you would saw the headlights of an westbound CP train and was hoping it would catch up to us before we hit Kipling, but not the case.

  • @AlexRampaul They must been on the westbound train, as they were not on the eastbound train. As for TTC personal, there could been some on the eastbound train, but never looked behind me while shooting the videos. On the other videos, we got some good horn blast

  • @AlexRampaul I was at the very front with all those transit fans though.

  • I was on that train on its final day.

  • In addition to those transit fans, was there a bunch of TTC employees, (including bus, streetcar, subway operators, station collectors, maintainance crews), the media, Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford, and TTC chair Karen Stinz riding the train on its final day as well?

  • The H4 cars on the B-D line were actually replaced witht the T1 cars taken from the Y-U-S line as that line is recieving the new TR trains.

  • @ROBLOXLover24 Which operates exclusively on the Yonge-University-Spadina line.
