In this 1969 recording, Philadelphia Orchestra conductor Eugene Ormandy (1899-1985) is interviewed by Roger Hall about his associations with several famous performers, recording technology, and other topics. I created this video from the LP shown above, issued in 1969 on the RCA label, serial number SP-33-555.

The video opens with an excerpt of a December 14, 1936 recording by Ormandy and the PO of the Tchaikovsky's Pathetique Symphony, and concludes with another excerpt, from May 27, 1968.

  • Thank you so much for this. The first time I went to the orchestra in Philadelphia in 1964 Ormandy conducted, and as a Philadelphian I have valued his immense contribution to the city's culture. To hear his voice and understand through his testimony his well-known humanity and grace is a great reward. Thank you again- PJTramdack (Philobiblion)
