Angry, drunken revellers ran wild on Wednesday night after the Vancouver Canucks' 4-0 loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, setting cars and garbage cans ablaze, smashing windows, showering giant TV screens with beer bottles and dancing atop overturned vehicles. Later, looters smashed windows and ran inside department stores. There were no immediate indications of injuries, although images were shown on television of at least one woman mopping blood from her forehead. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson praised the police and firefighters and asked people to stay away from the central downtown area. Tear gas mingled with the stench of acrid smoke and stale beer as riot police, truncheons drawn, moved in to quell the violence, pushing crowds away from the burning cars. Later, police cars also were set on fire.

@eatmeskivys Ontario wouldn't be what it is today without Canada and vice versa - and what's wrong with immigrants? You think Canada lets them in because they want to save the precious immigrants from their third world hell? Please...Canada needs immigrants to even function. If they stopped immigration altogether, the Canadian economy would grind to a halt. This is even more apparent in the US. Hard labouring immigrants run western countries.

@1j0k3 Hmm...well the whole "nationalism" thing was pretty big back in the 70s and 80s. Our family moved out of Montreal to Toronto in 78' even before I was born. Back then there was the whole "Quebec Liberation" thing going on...but I assume it's died down by now. The Quebec example was more of a "provincial/cultural" thing as compared to in the US where they shoot each other because you're from a "different" hood.

@IslandStyle123 What do you define Canadian? The only true Canadians are the Natives people who resided on this land long before any European set foot. I also happen to be an immigrant, a 2nd generation mind you. Am I not "Canadian" then?

@MapleLeafistan The Martimes don't think much of Ontario, let alone Alberta, the Quebec-Montreal thing has pretty much faded when we lost our hockey team and it moved to Colorado, and our silly mayor won't get us a new one anytime soon so the rivalry will lie more on who has the best roads and bridges. . . to put things in perspective, we all bloody dislike each other for some reason or another, lets just not kill, steal, fuck over each other, keep it clean and simple, and we can have peace
