After listening to a recording of her, I never get to enjoy any other recording made of that same piece. No other cellist ever comes close to her magnificent interpretation. It's simply perfect.

@catharticartist1 I'm not a big admirer of Yo Yo Ma, but if you think he's any kind of narcissist your psychological acuity is highly suspect.

@terrygowork I disagree -at last halfway at any rate. I think du Pre is clearly superior in the first movement, Rostropovich in this one. Though I'll freely grant Rostropvich edges her out by a narrower margin in this third movement than she him in the first. The first movement isn't even a close call for me.
