Sustainable whaling has a long history in Iceland; however there are still a number of vocal dissenters who view the nation's return to whaling as backward and irresponsible. For the past two decades, pressure from anti-whaling nations like Australia has kept whalers tied up and out of commission. Throughout that time Iceland has been putting its case for sustainable whaling, based on the large increases in local whale stocks.

  • migaloo-kappa will not accept worshipers who have defiled their body with the (commercial) consumption of whale meat.

*had to add a little disclaimer for subsistence hunters*

  • He he does have a familiar twang Leonidas. He is always re-inventing himself and using the reactions he gets (telling him he is stupid) on us. He copies us. He loves us.

  • @jonathan19960804 I am on the side that promotes that which is right. How should the whales be stopped?

  • @dowling1981 :

Your comment makes me confused. Which side are you actually on??

  • @jonathan19960804 Why do you discriminate against whale meat? I'm sure it tastes lovely

  • Alright! 2nd honeymoon to Iceland.

-my honey can go on the watching boat and I can go on the safari boat. Everybody happy.

  • @dowling1981 :

There is a scientific proof that Minke whales are not endangered. And don't ask me, I don't eat whale meat anyway!!

  • @jonathan19960804 When did you last count them??

  • @dowling1981 :

Minke whales are NOT ENDANGERED! There're still 100 thousands of these whales in Norwegian sea!

  • I thought this was very good program, it didnt take any sides and was neutral. Good stuff

  • I must say that the use of dark and ominous music during the interview with Kristján shows that you, or those who made this clip, were unbiased in their/your report. Iceland's whaling is so small that it can't be compared to the bigger nations like Japan. Also the north hemisphere Minke whale (Common minke whale), that is the only kind of Minke whale that lives in the North Atlantic, is not an endangered species as can be seen on the IUCN red list homepage.
