Stuffing and getting stuffed are the modern themes of a British Christmas. Too much turkey, roast potatoes, carrots, spouts and bacon wrapped sausages, followed by too much Christmas pudding, all washed down with gallons of wine. A day slumped in front of the television trying to digest this unnatural diet and a resolve to enrol in a gym to shed the unwanted pounds gained over the festive season. This is the final part of the series, A British Christmas. The series ends with a fun morph through many of the key characters who have made a British Christmas what it is today. | http://linguaspectrum.com/lessons/language_lessons/Christmas%20Food/

  • in the first photo with the king what the hell is that woman (or man) doing to that poor child with its arse out ?

  • Thanks for your comment. The painting is by Jacob Jordaens, a 17th Century Dutch painter, and is called The King Drinks. It shows the Feast of the Three Kings. The king is the artist's father-in-law, the painter Adam van Noort. Who the woman is holding the baby, we don't know, but she's wiping the child's arse, as mother's do. Imagine doing that in the middle of McDonalds!

  • You did. Twice. Eating my Christmas dinner when I was about 5 years old, and at the end in the closing morph sequence.

    Merry Christmas.
