This project involved researchers from the Department of History and KDEG in the School of Computer Science and Statistics in addition to commercial partners IBM and Eneclann.

The project transcribed, digitised and analysed the 1641 Depositions, which comprise 3,400 depositions, examinations and associated materials, located in the Library of Trinity College Dublin, in which Protestant men and women of all classes told of their experiences following the outbreak of the rebellion by the Catholic Irish in October, 1641.

  • Holocaust!who mentioned the holocaust, I know that happened ,but for you to try to equate the Holocaust with the events in Ireland is delusional and fanciful at best.I see you resort to the time honoured assumption that I am a republican(wrong)just because I dont agree with you. I just like to see the truth exposed and not the same old propaganda emanating from extremists like you.

  • @saoirse2011 No doubt you'll deny the Holocaust took place ......sick twat

  • @saoirse2011 The normal response from a sectarian IRA bigot who supports the slaughter of Ulster protestants. No surprise there then. Even the most conservative estimates say at least 12,000 protestants were butchered. Although other estimates have put the figure much higher. Hang your head in shame lad.Its the same mentality that made your pals line up ten innocent protestants against a road side in Kingsmills and gun them down.

  • @sashmyfatherwore Look at the facts from Queens and Trinity universities before you comment, fucking bigot and moron.

  • @saoirse2011 Typical sweep it under the comment from saoirse, a supporter of republican death squads that carried out ethnic cleansing of protestants along the border. Just like 1641 its a story that republicans want to hide.

  • The 1641 massacre of protestants is a myth, Sir Charles Coote had carried out massacres of native Irish people at Wicklow,Clontarf, and Carrickmines, upwards of 5000 catholics were killed by him,Irish rebels in Ulster killed about 1600 protestants in retaliation. In recent studies(2010)the foremost historians in the world have concluded that the protestant massacre story was inspired by propaganda and was used as a false pretext for killing the native Irish and confiscating their land
