None of the specifically enumerated powers provided to the Congress by the Constitution authorize market interventions like the health care "solution" proposed by president Obama, nor did they authorize the government's subsidization of the insurance industry in the 1940's that created this disaster in the first place.
Not only would supporting such measures be economically disastrous for us (and politically disastrous for you), but it would be a clear violation of your solemn oath of office.
Agreed. HR 1495 would be a constitutional alternative to intrusive government control of health care. It's time that Congress honor their oaths, pay specific attention to the enumerated powers, and reject this interventionism that has proven to fail. The majority of Rep. Wittman's voting record impresses me (nay on bailouts, nay on HR 2346, nay on 2454 Cap and Tax, and Cosponsoring HR1207). How about a free market approach to health care?
Please consider that Article I, Section 8 does not grant to Congress the authority to institute a national level healthcare program. I highly recommend you consider co-sponsoring Rep. Ron Paul's H.R. 1495 as an alternative to voting for yet more unwanted government in our lives.
