Even inflation adjusted to modern purchasing, these ball players of the pre-free agency days were far lower paid than even the run-of-the-mill middle reliever today. But they had more prestige bestowed on them somehow in those days compared with now.

The 50's were a better time. All people regardless of their status were more respectable. All of us were more free to do what we wanted and had the responsablilty to do the right thing. Celebrities didn't kill each other in night clubs. Sports heros both black and white were more respectable. Kids learned more with 50 in a class then they do today with 20. But, I do like todays science and the internet and many other things.

Which part of what I said is "bilge"? Was it where I said 50's television is an inaccurate representation of 50's reality? Was it where I said the 50's pissed all over the rights of everyone who wasn't a straight-white-Christian-male? How about where I said being able to hit a ball with a stick doesn't make you a "hero"? If you think the truth is bilge, then tough shit.

And while the Korean war has nothing to do with serving me, when did I EVER say anything against him being a veteran? Ever?
