UPDATE: The Facebook group, Students Rebuild and the Bezos family foundation (along with other foundations and anonymous donators) had to up their goal to 1 million Paper Cranes instead of 100,000 and gave out $1,000,000 to the relief efforts! Please stay updated with the group at the link below, thanks!

I have received numerous comments from people over the past few weeks on my Paper Crane tutorial saying that they were making these cranes for Japan, they were trying to make 1,000 of them, people were raising money, even that their school used my video to teach them how. One of my viewers let me know about this really awesome facebook group:

The group teamed up with a foundation and are now paying $2 PER CRANE for the Japan Rebuilding effort. The cranes can be sent in to this address below:

Ste. 116 #145

Because I think this is such an awesome idea, I have decided to hold a contest... and HERE are the rules:
__________________________________
RULES:

YOU (one person) must fold as many PAPER CRANES (birds and other models will NOT be allowed) as you can before 4/15/11 @ 9PM EST (****EXTENDED, I will have an update video soon!!!!!) and create a video response for them. In the video response, you must have it written or say "Hey Rob, my name is [insert your username] and these are the paper cranes I made for Japan". The video must not be composed of a picture alone. The video response must show all of the cranes, which are arranged in groups of 5, and also must have you counting all of the cranes 5 at a time. Because of the large amount of cranes I expect will be made, it is also OK to create groups of 5 cranes held together by a rubber band. I trust you, but please be honest and put EXACTLY 5 cranes per group. Remember, this is for a fun and a good cause, so let's see how many you can really make! The cranes can pretty much be any size, but try not to do any extremely large or very small models. Also, only one video response per person. If you do want to try to match someone's crane count, be sure to do it before April 8th!

Winner: Whoever counts the most cranes in their video will be the winner. The winner will be selected from the video responses sometime after 4/8/11 and be announced in a future video. I will give that person a shoutout and also put a link to their channel. If by some amazing coincidence that two (or more) people tie and make the same amount of cranes, there can be multiple winners. Each winner will have their video featured on my YouTube channel until that video is over 1,000 views. I will also choose 5 random people from the comment section below who have the words "Paper Cranes for Japan" in their comment AND ALSO 4 other video responses to be featured in my upcoming video!! So post a response no matter how many cranes you do :-D
