Kumintang: Mutya ng Pasig - L.Silos & Villar Symphonette (Very Rare Vinyl Copy)

'Mutya ng Pasig' is a Kumintang composed by Nicanor Abelardo during the American colonial regime (circa 1920). The Kumintang is the pre-Spanish Tagalog war song.

The lyrics of "Mutya ng Pasig" as written by Deogracias del Rosario contains symbols and metaphors as it is a veiled song of protest against colonial rule. The repetitive words "Kung nais ninyong ako'y mabuhay, PAG-IBIG ko'y inyong ibigay!" (If you want me to live, give me back my love!) is actually a battle cry of Filipinas, the Motherland, symbolized by the "Mutya ng Pasig", so that her children, the Filipino-Malays, will fight for and regain back her lost freedom (symbolized by "PAG-IBIG") and also her vanished honor and glory (symbolized by the "KAHARIAN"). She cries out in the middle of the night: "Ang PAG-IBIG ng mamatay, naglaho rin ang KAHARIAN!" which means when our freedom died, our honor and glory vanished along with it. Benigno Aquino once said:

"The day Americans occupied the Philippines, August 13, 1898, should be declared as a DAY OF NATIONAL HUMILIATION."

@iamsha2x : Mas maganda at okay kung piano accompaniment na lang ang gamitin mo tutal may mabibili pa namang mga piyesa ng Kundiman tulad nito. Pero kung wala kang mahahanap na tutugtog para sa iyo ay gamitin mo na lang ito.
