HI! This is the first time I make AVR's project in C language. So if I made mistakes, please tell me. This project is about 8x8 LED Matrix. Before the exam, I had been playing this LED Matrix with my AVRs. But at that time I had programed in Assembly. However, I failed. I am playing with C these days.
Actually, I don't have the IC "74HC595", and the other IC's speed are very slow. So i can only play with my ATmega16. Because it has more I/O Ports then other AVRs among my kits.

  • Hey! Why using C# if you kept learning ASM a while ago? C# is slow, overweighted with library codes and produces some outstandingly stupid output code. Tried it - was mostly like quickly writing something, then a lot of effort to get the code output look at least remotely sane.

Btw a small advice: never drive LEDs directly by port pins, you can easily exceed the MCU's safe current range and end up with a dead MCU. Better add PNP and NPN switches for row and column control, makes things safer!

  • @TheBypasser Thank you for your comments, now i know that drive LEDs directly by port pins is not good, at that time i'm just a beginner so that i didn't know how to drive LEDs.

Actually i'm trying hard to improve myself but I'm studying for University, so i can't keep built project for a while.... maybe one years ago i can do it again. :)

  • What are the white cables that run from the burg strip to the 8x8 called?

I have had to resort to using hand soldered wires to burg strips and they are simply horrible. (Tend to come off a lot.)

  • @Shaunakde i'm sorry:( i don't know what they called. i think you can find they easily in market.
