October 16, 2004. One very lucky teen! The driver lost control on 122nd Street East/ Old Military Road. The trees stopped the decent of the car to the valley floor but created an interesting rescue. Even with the car stabilized, you can see it and the trees sway. The Pierce county high angle rescue team did the extrication and rescue. Puyallup Special Ops, Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, Graham Fire and Rescue, Lakewood, University Place and Gig Harbor. I'm probably missing a few other departments who participated. I'm sorry. The injuries were non life threatening and it all ended well!

  • Is it normal to have that many people there on the rescue effort? It seemed like that much activity by the road would cause to much interest and perhaps more accidents. Comments

  • Yes it is. The first responders, then those of the high angle rescue team which consists of members from several different agencies. The road was shut down in both directions at points that the scene was not visible at the closures. I had to park and walk to the scene.

  • Awesome rescue & awesome video...Glad the young lady is OK. I'm from Graham & I know our Fire Dept rocks! (Of course I will vote Yes next week for more EMS funding!) Thanks.

  • Thank you. I'm also voting yes.

  • Did this person live?

  • Yes.

  • I'm with PCESAR not high angle, but very nice rescue very professional.

  • Good thing they weren't life threatening! Teen wouldn't have made it!

  • I'm not sure what impressed me most: 1) the smoothness of the rescue, 2) the fact that the smoothness was in a multi-department response, or 3) the overall video quality.

Well done to all involved. Glad the victim was not seriously injured.

  • Thank you.
