@XOtericate I didn't enjoy 4 as much as 2 or 3, but it was good. Ian McShane is Black Beard. Because he played Judas Iscariot in "Jesus of Nazareth," his sarcastic religious comments were more powerful: "I feel closest to God when I see suffering, pain, and anguish."
Geoffrey Rush is a Captain Ahab who wins. (In this 4th film.) Even though I liked 2 and 3 better, 4 is good too. .

Well, we can't fault Ahab when he bravely gets the ship through the storm.
In POC 4 ("on Stranger Tides"), Geoffrey Rush seems to be a parallel of Captain Ahab. He's fixated on Black Beard because he blames Black Beard for the loss of his leg. He also is more fixated on revenge than in Part 3. (Also a bit darker than he was in Part 3.)
But of course the verdict is different. He becomes a Captain Ahab who wins.
