Just a quick restring and the cleaning i do everytime i change strings, only with Gerlitz guitar care products!

I was made aware of these by DrKarnivore and looked into their stuff.. i was impressed with reviews! I already knew of the guy who imports the stuff to the UK, AND i knew he was an OK guy too, as he's dealt with a friend of mine in the past who said so :)

Anyway i bought "The Works" which you can buy here..

http://www.poshguitars.com/poshguitars/The_Works.html

I bought mine through Ebay and it arrived in 2 days so the service was good :)

I'm mighty impressed with it too! I have hang ups about lemon oil leaving my fingerboards dry in the long run so have been keen to try something else, my initial fingerboard clean with guitar honey impressed me! My guitars are never filthy so it's hard to see gains in how well something might clean them, but this noticeably darkened the wood a little and left it feeling very smooth and looking very fresh!!

As for the "Smudge Off" does what it's supposed to, better than the Dunlop N.o 65 i've used for years! As you'll hear me say in the video there was a cloudy part of metal on the bridge that i've tried numerous times to polish out with Dunlop, only for this to manage it on it's first try :)

And the "N.o.1 Carnauba wax and polish" It's a wax, i know Carnauba is quality anyway but it just makes the finish glow and shine that little bit more :) Also adds a layer of protection to top it off!

I'd recommend you try this stuff if you're on the lookout for a new cleaning product :)

And... why does Windows Movie Maker insist on making glitchy noises between my transitions?! Reallllly damn annoying! It only does it after i've "saved/rendered" the video!! Answers in a comment below :D

  • So now you have the three products on the same blue microfibre cloth..next time you polish the Smudge Off you'll be applying a "cocktail" of the Smudge off, Honey and carnuba. The Honey isn't good for the guitar's finish. I think there should be a different cloth for each different product.

  • @174FIRST Mmm, to be honest it's the buyers prerogative to get the extra cloths, i wouldn't say Gerlitz are stiffing anyone by only providing 2 very high quality cloths.

I tend to use certain parts of my cloth logically, so as to not use the part i just cleaned my fingerboard with, to buff the wax off, it's just common sense. And once it's dried, the next time you use it i very much doubt the cocktail effect would be relevant enough to worry about.

  • great video man, my guitar tuners are accumulating early signs of rust (nothing major). would that stuff work on removing it? i dont want to use any type of abrasive cos i have gold tuners and dont want it damaged.

  • Mmm hard to say mate, if it's just on the surface it's quite likely this stuff will shine it off.. But if the gold plating is actually rusting through then there won't be much you can do about it sadly :( so yeah, if anything can, i would think this stuff can :)

  • Awesome video mate. Guitar looked amazing afterwards.

  • Thanks dude :D Like i said the stuff is great!

  • @174FIRST @voodooriders Furthermore, you can of course wash the cloth.

  • I think thats the most beautiful guitar ive ever seen...

  • I don't think I would even touch the guitar after looking that clean :-)

  • thumbs up from me 2! :)

  • I live in Australia and have just received this set from England, after having read some great reviews. I gave my '92 Tokai Love Rock LS55 a clean and restring. It came up magnificently!!! GREAT STUFF!!!!

  • @voodooriders Hey man through some research i have found out that the shafts on the tuners (i.e. the thing that the screw goes into) are actually brass if you have gold or hybrid tuners. So it just a matter of polishing them with the corresponding polish or some baking soda. To everyone out there make sure polishing agents do not come into contact with the headstock it will ruin it (if you are using brasso etc).

    Cheers
