  • @superesonator Thank god you didn't have my dad teaching you, he believed that scaring the crap out of me by blowing a blow horn would prepare me... Nothing happen but I was scared shitless...

  • Very interesting Ashi Sabaki, never seen it this way before, Not much use of the 45 degree angles, but still extremely effective. I like it.

  • @itachi123100

By falling the right way uke helps you to discover the most effective angle.

"I never understand why my driving instructor did not try to steer me into a tree.

It gave me a false sense of security in my driving abilities."

  • @itachi123100 This is a formal demonstration, not the actual application.

  • Sad isn't it....

  • why do they stand so far apart?? why do they do that funny walk/hop toward each other?? there is no real balance taking,,

  • That's not the way I learned it...

  • Kata is about fundamental principles:There is little evidence of correct application of principles (sound kamae, maintaining unbendable arm during technique, energy projecting forwards, zanshin throughout, I could go on...) Just because it is a kata that doesn't mean it shouldn't work. If Uke just stood and 'was' rather than falling over at the touch of a feather the tori would learn a lot about her technique - namely that it won't often work. Sorry but them's the facts...

  • I do Daito Ryu Aiki JuJitsu which is almost identical to this our randori no kata the uke puts more pressurs on the tori to see what he or she has truely learned plus the finishes the tori has head up not looking at their hand position

  • what you are seeing here are basic ideas, this kata is a means of teaching, the free style technique is quite different while still retaining the idea of the original, practical application of aikido is quite different from what u see here, think about it.
