¡Gracias, José! Max Steiner was an Austrian composer of music for theatre and films and is often referred to as "The Father Of Film Music". Steiner was one of the best-known composers in Hollywood and was nominated for the Academy Award a total of 24 times. His film scores of "The Informer", "Now", "Voyager" and "Since You Went Away" all won him Academy Awards. Probably his two best known film scores are "Casablanca" and "Gone With The Wind". The 1960 hit "Theme from A Summer Place" (recorded by Percy Faith) was composed by Max Steiner. He was the 1st recipient of the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, for his score to "Life with Father". In 1995 Steiner was inducted posthumously into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has a star located at 1551 Vine Street on the Walk of Fame for his contribution to motion pictures. This selection is from the soundtrack of the 1961 film "Parrish" starring Troy Donahue.
