Alabama has second thoughts on immigration law

Some local officials in Alabama are worried that the state's tough new immigration law has turned off foreign investors from bringing business -- and jobs -- to cities that desperately need them. Mark Strassmann reports.

@nanaforiod Well they do because of a 9 digit number that they got from the Bush years. And banks will use that to loan them money to buy houses etc.

@Twostones00 How are they slaves if they get payed? The whole point of slavery is that the labor is not only free but forced upon the worker. For example volunteer firemen aren't slaves even though they don't get paid (similarly soup kitchen workers and college basketball players).

My point? They are not forced to work in a situation with little or no pay and they choose whom they work for, though their decision to immigrate illegally has a lot to do with the types of jobs available to them.

@keaton1895 If they get to the point where they can buy businesses then they are probably gonna be a benefit to our economy. If you think of all the citizens who couldn't afford to buy and entire company if an illegal immigrant is able to do that then more power to him. In fact, deport some of the ne'er do wells that populate the drugs trafficking/distribution population of America before deporting a success story like that.
