Major ethnic people in Malaysia protested against the Burmese government today near the Burmese Embassy this morning in Kuala Lumpur. They demanded the government stop its war against ethnic states and the killing of innocent civilians, release all political prisoners and a complete halt of the Irrawaddy Myitsone dam project, in Kachin State, said Nhkum La Seng, a protest leader. The demonstration was organized by the Kuala Lumpur-based Myanmar Ethnic Refugees and Malaysian Non-government Organizations. The event was joined by about 500 protesters, including members from the Coalition of Burma Ethnics, Malaysia (COBEM), which includes Kachin, Chin, Karenni, Karen, Shan, Arakan and Mon people from Burma, now living in Kuala Lumpur.
