Since the purpose of my YouTube channel is to document and archive my years as organist-choirmast, this video is from a new series including some favorite choral works, performed under my direction and accompaniment from the "Middle Arlington" years (1986-1995). I have divided my organist-choirmaster years into 6 periods: #1 (1965-1972) The "Goochland/Winchester" Years; #2 (1972-1978) The "Culpeper" Years; #3 (1978-1985) The "Early Arlington" Years ... with the old Moeller 27-rank Pipe Organ; #4 (1986-1995) The "Middle Arlington" Years ... with the new Moeller 37-rank Pipe Organ, Pre-Sanctuary Renovation; #5 (1996-2005) The Relocated and Digitized Pipe Organ, Post-Sanctuary Renovation; #6 (2005-Present) The "Richmond" Years. Today's anthem (first in series) is a May 19, 1991 Choral Union recording of Handel's "Hallelujah, Amen." Sorry, only half of the choir is shown. The men are on the other side of chancel.

  • I thought this song was by Hayden not Handel

  • "Halleluia Amen" is the chorus from Handel's oratorio Judas Maccabaeus (HWV #63).

  • 1 word for this choir: cool....

  • I have a Canadian Brass arrangement and it is marked Maestoso at 78. This version is up around 98 and is far more jubilant than maestoso. It makes me wonder what the original was scored to be.

  • That is such lovely music
