Does the weight need to be heavy on lateral dumbbell raises? Man that shit hurts my elbows and shoulders like I'm gonna snap my shit up. I tried 25kg each hand. I am a beginner by the way

I do shrugs just once every two weeks, heavy weight, just 6-8 reps, and my traps have grown huge in just 3 months. I say heavy weight, low reps for shrugs.
I practice my shrugs when my wife asks me a question.
