QUESTIONER: [...] "What's going on with the Oil companies? I'm an independent trucking company owner. I've been in business 28 years and my family is getting hurt, we're really getting hammered. Is there anything we can do?"

JOHN MCCAIN:"Yes. I think that long term I can not assure you that we will be, that we will see a decrease of significants in the cost of a barrel of oil in the short term. I think we are buffeted by several different forces, one is India and China growing economy with demands on the world supply of oil, I think that we are having some speculation and it needs to be investigated as to what effects the speculators have had on the unnecessary increase in the price of oil. I think it motivates us to embark on a national mission. When Jack Kennedy challenged us to go to the moon and we did it in a relatively short period of time, more quickly than experts predicted at the time. I've got to issue that same challenge to America to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil and relieve your burden."

QUESTIONER: "Thank you very much. That's really the answer I was looking for." [...]

MCCAIN: "Let me say that Senator Obama said yesterday that he didn't seem to mind the price increase, it was a little too quick. Well a lot of Americans mind. [...] On the issue of nuclear power, we are sailing Navy ships around the world for more than fifty years with nuclear power plants on them. The French, the French who we love to imitate, 80% of their electricity is generated by nuclear power. By the way if you haven't noticed we know have a pro- American president of France, which proves if you live long enough, anything can happen in this world. [...] But we got to go to nuclear power and Senator Obama's energy policy has no mention of nuclear power."
