Listeners tune in to Sudanese radio station - 13 June 2008

Miraya FM, a UN radio station, has become one the world's most popular radio stations. Nearly 80 per cent of the southern Sudan's 12 million residents tune in at least once a week to get the latest on local and international news. Al Jazeera's John Terret reports from Sudan where many listeners depend on the station's news bulletins for up-to-date information about what is happening in their own country.

Is it pretty likely that South Sudan will break off and become its own state when it has the chance? Maybe even Darfur as well? The Khartoum government has behaved so brutally that I don't see why South Sudan would want to stay.
