Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Gloria from Coronation Mass in C major, KV 317, sung by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir conducted by David Halls. The organ was played by Daniel Cook.

Although the choir is only accompanied by organ I think the result is quite superb. You might also relish the setting of this performance, Salisbury Cathedral, which is considered one of the leading examples of early English Gothic architecture.

This is part of the Easter Day Eucharist from Salisbury Cathedral broadcasted live on BBC One on Sunday, 24 April 2011.

  • La veu humana fa coses meravelloses. Una interpretació magnífica i inusual amb aquestes veus tan belles i harmonitzades. Gràcies per aquest enregistrament.

  • It's a bit strange to hear this sung by a choir with such an 'English sound,' but Salisbury have a really fantastic choir, and I always find myself wishing I could hear more of them. Thank you for posting this!

  • @1finch2finch I'm glad you like this! I also enjoy hearing this choir quite a lot! :)

  • This is Anglican, but hasn't Rome put the kibosh on either Mozart or Haydn masses being sung for Catholics except for special Catholic occasions? (Like high Mass at the Vatican) The thinking being that the solo parts are too "operatic" and the choral parts delay the action of the liturgy. Here in the U.S. I know even some Episcopal (Anglican) bishops who have publicly stated they dislike any music which unduly delays the liturgy, such as a Gloria or Credo lasting more than a few minutes.

  • @jpchamant Je suis content que vous l'aimez! :)

  • Magnifique, une pure merveille et en HD.
