Michigan Law on Stem Cells

Watch how quickly the topic goes from 'clinic embryos' to cloning (which puts women's lives unnecessarily at risk). Michigan does NOT ban human embryonic stem cell research.

Researchers only have access to very limited mostly useless old cells. There is very limited funding. The politicians that allow for new cells to save lifes will get votes. Thats pretty simple to undesciencedaily(dot) com/releases/2008/02/080212122 105.htm

Michigan researchers can use any stem cells - even human embryonic made today. They can even make them from clinic embryos targeted for destruction. Be clear on the law. They can't clone (voter initative); they can't do research on a LIVE embryo. Embryos aren't stem cells; there are NO restrictions on using human embryonic stem cells. The link (start at ScienceDaily) is a classic example of how hES are inferior to marrow/cord blood as the new immune isn't fully functional. Thanks for it!

Rab: Please quote law that causes what you claim (I ask because it does not exist; you are just repeating false statements you've heard.).

Researchers have access to stem cells from all the clinic embryos already; furthermore, Bush's EO13435 allows federal funding for almost all the clinic embryos 'thrown away'. Almost all good enough to use are used, and Michigan can expect zero new 'fresh' embryos other than those that arrest. Still, researchers can already use those embryos, too. This is a ploy by politicians and researchers to get votes and money.

This video is just a lot of disinformation. The fact of the matter is that we need new cells (which will be thrown away anyhow) to use to save lives. We need this law to allow new cells and new research. Many lives depend on it. Let the law pass. This clip tries to show that there is a negative side, but there isn't one.
