Louisiana & Delta Railroad 12-15-08

Louisiana & Delta (LDRR) #1850, GP-10, Schriever Local (SC1) pulling empty centerbeam flatcars spotted on the "post office spur" for Dufresne Lumber. Tank cars immediately behind locomotive are empty molasses cars soon to be loaded at nearby Raceland Raw Sugars. Trackage is Lockport Branch of BNSF Lafayette Subdivision.

They have not gone down the branch beyond Raceland for some time now, I think over a year. There are no industries served between Raceland and the end of the line just past Jay. One of the two industries at the end closed, the remainder receives on rare occasion, not enough to warrant the trouble or expense for the railroad. The branch (beyond Raceland) is likely to not ever see service again.
