Derek originated the role of Scar in the Lion King on Broadway and is one of the most charismatic stars on the Great White Way! One of Belfield's favorites actors in New York! Alex spoke to Derek just after the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York. Derek describes how it felt to sing Live on Broadway 2 days of the attacks at Ground Zero. This is a heartfelt account of what it was like to be a high profile headliner on the Great White Way on 9/11 2001. You can hear the full interview by visiting http://www.celebrityradio.co.uk

  • Derek did a rly good job, but no one can beat Jeremy Irons in the movie. No offence! I really enjoyed Derek's performance...after almost getting blowing up and having the show be delayed for an hour, any performance was good, lol...but rly, he did a great job.

  • just a small note- Derek Smith was not the originator of the role, John Vickery was.
