A 65-YEAR-OLD firefighter has denied starting an inferno that killed 38 people.
Veteran Country Fire Authority brigade captain Ron Philpott has been interviewed by homicide detectives about the Black Saturday blaze that destroyed Marysville.
"I'm sick of being pointed at and people thinking 'that's him'," the long-time volunteer said.
By 1st April, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dannye Moloney was saying "we are quite satisfied this fire was deliberately lit." I have looked at what details are available at the Royal Commission web site, literally for months, and whilst fully acknowledging Police and Energy Safe Victoria technical investigators have access to heaps more info that we mere plebs, I still can't shake free of a nagging thought that a loud bang and a (copper) conductor clash mark need explaining in open court.
