American Tenor Richard Crooks, and The Balladeers, a male quartet, sings Stephen Foster's famous tune, "Oh! Susanna" for Victor in 1937. This is one of the songs included in the 5-disc set album of "Stephen Foster's Songbook"(I'll post more from the album later)
There are numerous Stephen Foster recordings released in 78rpm era, but this record album is my favorite. It's really what I can call, a pure "American".
Played on my HMV 102 portable gramophone with Laubscher needle.

Banjo rocks! To think Lincoln or Grant or Lee may have hummed this. Really of the old South. Cool harmony too. Thanks!

Interesting for me to hear for the first time this very "American" popular song by Crooks. As a child I remember his pleasing tenor voice singing ballads and in particular sacred songs and hymns on our "wireless" (that's Ozzie for "radio").
