There's no zone like Michael's. At age 40, MJ's zone was visited less frequently but still, when it happened, there was just nothing like it in the world. With his knee surgically repaired the year before, one only wonders what really might have happened even at this age had it not been for that knee. ESPN thought MJ could have still led the league in scoring if not for the injury and should that have been the case, the Wiz probably would have made the playoffs which would then have opened the door to anything possible.

In this game, MJ wanted to have a little statement for Richard Jefferson right before he retired. In truly MJ-like fashion, he once again summoned up a 60% shooting effort on call. With 7 straight FGs made in the 3rd quarter, MJ reversed Father Time and became the only player in history to break the 40 point barrier at age 40 and 4 days. With a barrage of silky perimeter shooting, MJ dominated from the outside with fades, step-back jumpers and in-your-face shots against Martin, Kidd, Jefferson and whoever.

Which begs the question. If the Wizards had been contenders, would we have seen more efforts like these at age 40? Most likely and more. But regardless, this performance remains unchartered territory for anyone in history and may stand as one of his most unbreakable records.

  • Jordan 6 mvp finals, 5 mvp seasson, 1072 games, 6 rings, defensive player of the year, never played with super big centers, he dominated. He jump 120 cm, he can fly.

Kobe 2 mvp finals, 1 mvp seasson, 1200 games and +,5 rings, dominate shaq, pau, odom, bynum, kobe without super big players=no playoffs, selfish player, no IQ only shoot, low%,kobe have the new nba rules for exterior player since 2005, low defense in exterior players...Jordan is first, Kobe is not the best in his team kareem, Magic.

  • When Jordan decided to stop playing, Everyone was asking... WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE HIM? When Kobe decides to stop playing.... He will be rem as a good basketball player. While MJ will be rem as the greatest basketball player. For those talking trash about MJ, you have never seen him played in the 80s n 90s.

  • @mobst4r1 well i mean come on shaq was there. im not saying kobe is better but this was a deadly combo

  • @BigJhits Yes, Jordan is a 5-time NBA MVP. But we're talking about Jordan being a 6-time Finals MVP. And yes, I agree, Kobe is more comparable to Jordan when he played for the Wizards. Lol

  • @mobst4r1 it kinda says 6 title, 5 MVP's in the video..just sayin & lol kobe dont compare to MJ, EVER

  • @jebose69 Yes, and I obviously did not base it on their titles. I'm merely stating that every time Jordan showed up in the Finals, he was the best player. Kobe was the best only twice of his 5 titles. Whether we're basing them off of titles or not, Jordan is better than Kobe and Bill Russell.

  • @mobst4r1 You're thinking of NBA MVPs that Bill had, Back then there was no finals mvp. And anyways my point was you can't keep relying on titles, although they do signify alot, you can't base a player of their titles.
