Using trench digger in hard ground which was a pain in the a**! But I show tips when encountering hard ground and sand. Only one cuss word was blurped.I'd say if you can afford it get the tractor type or get one with tracks instead of wheels, but these tips can still apply to those, too.

  • This guy is a losser learn how to trench

  • @mudprohoe You rock, show me how to trench right so I won't be a looser, er, I mean, loser. Thanks.

  • Here's a tip your going to be playing in muddy slop where your backfilling now cause you were spraying that water in your ditch

  • @Hucklebillyjones, that sounds like fun.

Really, the ground was so dry and hard, I see that effect coming to pass as extremely remote. It is probably worse with the dry spell right now. The whole line to be dug probably would need to be soaked a bit to start for it would be like digging cement, almost. and it would be drier come backfill time. No one was making a flood in the shooting of this video/ execution of this work.

  • Water tip is excellent but if you have a long stretch to do it would be faster and safer to rent a mini skid steer plus trencher attachment because in most cases (espescially a SK 650) the momentum and weight of a mini is superior.

  • Thanks for commenting/advice. We were strapped for money & this beat a shovel anyday. :-)

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment on your experience. We all learn that these things are not as easy as they sound. The other tip that you need to point out is that this machine wants to work on level ground in a straight line and is awkward and heavy and hard to steer and generally a poorly designed piece of equipment. It was one of my most disappoiting experiences when I first used it and spent more time fighting with the equipment than I spent doing the job.

  • Thanks for posting. I appreciate it!

  • OMG!! My shovel broke.

  • Not the straightest of Trenches.
