This little piece of rare phenomenon was captured at midday at the LEGOLAND Windsor annual Pass preview weekend which is where LEGOLAND or Merlin pass holders can go in and see any new additions to the park before the official opening to the general public. It isn't usual to see Viking's River Splash being refolded since it is a very high tech ride so when it does occasionally break down or when it becomes "Thorped" as some people say there is usually no need to drain the entire ride of its water reserves. In the video you may notice on the far side of the stations turn table that there is a sudden burst of water, that is the pump that pumps the water from the central reserve tank and up into the half pipe. It is one of the most powerful pumps in the world and can move up to 100 gallons of water an hour. The reserve for the River Splash is so large that it took over two days to fill it up with the required amount of water for there to be a continuous current running throughout the ride.

  • This ride was almost relaxing...

  • I WAS THERE WHEN THAT HAPPENED AND I SAW LOADS OF PEOPLE VIDEOING PLUS ME AND MY DAD we were verry dissopointed

  • This is actually quite common. My dad works here and he's seen it more than 10 times before. The water accidentally drains out and they have to pump it around again. It's awesome :D

  • shadow says HI, THOUGHT YOU LOST ME DIDN,T YOU

  • Yeah i saw it to! :D but its not flooding! there just filling it with water again!

  • I was there that day

  • Get a fuckng life u sad little twats

  • LOL at Sam ;)

  • "...since it is a very high tech ride..." - Lol - it's a couple of big pumps (though I question "one of the most powerful in the world"), and a turntable - not massively high tech really :P. Cool video, though - I've seen them turn it on a few times before and it is quite fun to watch...
