Enemies are recognized when your cursor display turns from an arrow into a sword. Left Click-ing on an enemy performs a standard melee attack and the cursor display turns into a crossed out sword. Left Click-ing while the cursor displays as a crossed out sword stops your attack, allowing the enemy to attack. Do not Left Click during a melee attack until the cursor displays a flaming sword, allowing you to create attack combos.

The only way I found that combat works is if you click on a guy and hold the button down until the witcher does his pre-defined animation, but it only does 2 or 3 points of damage per hit. It makes game combat just a bunch of click, hold... click, hold... repeats. It's highly annoying. And whoever designed that system should be fired. Even button mashing for each swing of the sword would have been better. Perhaps there's some trick to it I'm missing, but the game never told me. So: fail.

Fuuuck, i bought this game on the steam sale based off of a few good reviews, and now realize i bought a fucking awkward auto-combat game.

Diablo series is so far the ONLY game that has done this right for me. Well, Diablo isn't really auto-combat in the way the a lot of RPGs are at all.

I think this purchase may have been a mistake.

The lag on my decent computer doesn't make me happy either...

@DobermanCrew all games are like this. its just that games like GoW or DMC the "sequence" is only one swing for every click or button press. in this one its like 3 swings. Still better then dragon age. u click ONCE....once...

gotta be shitting me .. combat system is point the mouse and click then he hits automatically i hate this kind of semi auto combat shit games ? ... wtf :|
