Short clip from 1941's The People vs. Dr. Kildare, featuring Dwight Frye. Dwight's 109th (and George Washington's 276th :P) birthday is today. :)

(Note: $100,000 in 1941 is about $1.5 million in today's money. That's one huge malpractice suit!)

This movie isn't as nearly as fun as "Fast Company." :( At least there's some Dwight action. This movie is sort of endearing, what with bad commentary about the litigious American society and its bumpkins who see doctors as some sort of bogeymen, but it's so sappy and chock full of old timey, bad humour, mostly supplied by Red Skelton. Skelton, who in his later years got to be a draw in a North Dakotan Scandinavian festival, proves that he was never funny.

  • Some of us have a film ring going for Dwight Frye. If interested in joining in, search for "dwightifrye" on LiveJournal or use the link on my profile. (I'm spamming some of my videos with this!)

  • Thanks for sharing, although his part seemed sort of short, but still always worth seeing:)

  • It's a great half a minute. :D

He was in the background of the court scenes, but it was not enough. :(

  • The judge changed his tune quickly! Thanks for sharing this clip. DF always looks so sweet with specs :)

  • Yea, that judge is all over the place in a span of a few seconds! I'd be afraid if he were a real judge.

Gotta love that a-dork-ableness of Dwight. :D

  • He is so adorable in glasses, and the man certainly knew how to wear a suit :)!

  • I love him with glasses on... and he DOES sound very Midwestern! So cute.

  • I love his accent here. :) It sounds very mid-Western and simple. Since he's usually so theatrical, it's quite cute!

  • Oh yeah I can imagine that it wouldn't be enough. Such a shame, Dwight had so much to offer!

I loved your comment about his "a-dork-ableness", he sure did have it;)
