edit to add: My god, people! It's a video, so stop acting like it's a life and death decision who the best captain is! I personally think Janeway is the best Captain; I know that many of u like other Captains and that's okay! I respect that! And again: this is a video for entertainment purposes, so don't take it so damn seriously *rolls eyes*

I just don't see how anyone could think that Janeway is better than Kirk or Picard.

End of the day, all the captains were slightly different in thier own way, as were the series that featured them. Star trek was all about equality, hence nemeourous refrences to female captains in ALL of the series. No one captain could be the best in the fleet, Star trek evolves over the course of it's seasons, as do the characters and the situations the said characters find themselves in. I really can't understand this hatred of Janeway, Voyager was a lot of fun!!!

Looks like part two of the two-part "Year of Hell" episode -- I remember at one time, Janeway breathed in this corrosive s**t in a Jefferies tube or something, and the doctor had been shooting her up with drugs, putting her on a ventilator, etc. in attempt to stem the lung damage.

I would not say Janeway was a poor character. She was indeed quite the captain and had pretty big shoes to fill after the other series and she managed to fill them pretty darn well.

But for me, it has and will always be Picard. Maybe because I feel I relate to him more, but he is just one brilliant character and an inspiring one. That being said, Janeway would probably be my number 2 captain.

janeway is the cool side of starfleet.

she doesnt take any crap from anyone

she has a laid back approach to certain starfleet protocols

she has a moral centre unlike kirk and sisko

she doesnt have the luxury of wormholes or the pleasure starfleet breathing down her neck every 10 minutes (which would annoy me beyond reason)

she has a sense of humour (unlike sisko)

she has the correct balance between serious and funny

And she treats all her crew as equals

Why Janeway is my favorite:

She doesn't have the luxury of being a short drive from home, having unlimited supplies, and doesn't have the guidance of wormhole aliens, and yet...

she unites two factions that wanted to initially kill each other, saves several home worlds, and gets her crew home.

Okay, sure, she time travels but I like how fans of the other captains ignore moments where the writers cheat in favor of Kirk, Picard and Sisko.

So, stop talking down on Janeway on a Janeway video! :-P
