No it was the year before MSU played UCLA in the Rose Bowl, 1/1/66. The final score was 14-12 and MSU damn near pulled out a win in the 4th quarter, and still almost tied in late in the quarter.

This wasn't on the last weekend of the season. ND beat Southern Cal next week in a 50point thrashing to secure the national title.

WOW!! Thanks a bunch for posting this. Regis Cavender (who scored MSU's only TD) is my uncle. I've never seen video of it though.

I was 13 when this game was played and remember it well. Dick Kenney, the MSU kicker, kicked barefoot, straight on. Ouch!!
