In 1950 Hubbard published Dianetics, the Modern Science of Mental Health. This unscientific and unproven method of "clearing" the mind of problems was seen as an alternative to psychiatry. Initially, Hubbard did not consider himself in competition with psychiatry. In fact, he had sought psychiatric help himself earlier on.

In 1969 the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) was formed as an arm of Scientology to expose what Scientology founder Hubbard considered the evils of psychiatry. But Dianetics was rejected by the psychiatric community, and Hubbard became increasingly bitter toward the profession.

When I went to the exhibit, I was told about the CoS relationship only after I asked the staffer when CCHR was established.

To put blame where it is due, much of the material in the exhibit comes from Thomas Szasz, who is revealed as incredibly dishonest as soon as you try to verify his claims.

Love it. I bet that nothing inside the Scientology business even mentions the fact that they're actually the Scientology crime syndicate, huh? These violently insane Scientology crime bosses and ringleaders know that the minute anyone knows any of their fake fronts are actually the crime syndicate, nobody sane would believe anything the crime syndicate says.

O recommend anyone who wants to see the deceptions of the CCHR go to 13Heathan's channel and watch his playlist of 'Psychiatry: and industry of death'. he does a very excellent job of picking apart the video and exposing the over-dramatizations made, very informative and educational if you need a little extra help seeing the lies of CoS.
