Despite the (stupid) comment from Mr. BS... a great little site for north winds about 5 min deive from my house. The height gain is here is generaly 200-400ft on thermic days, in addition the various north ridges ease flights (right) to Tayport and (left) to the Tay road bridge. :-)

Despite flying here for almost 10 year this was the first time I had a chance to get some film shot, thanks to a chap who (with many others!) had spotted me high and stopped to watch, the best height gain at this site is around 400-600ft, however due to 'airspace' issues any 'XC' flying is strictly limited to a couple of miles up & down the coast, radio contact with BOTH EGPN & EGQL is vital due to a BUSY mix of GA traffic and fast jets as well as the Dundee/London commuter flights! Precision Paragliding providing an alternative to the BHPA since the late 90's for BHPA & ex-BHPA pilots wishing to RE-train or new pilot entering the sport who do NOT wish to risk the standards/accident rates produced by 'normal' PG theory, practices & procedures!

  • be careful man!. Almost got hit by a car! I got same result using a blanket like this man...

  • Me, well I'm always careful.

Who (Quote) was 'almost got hit by a car'?

As you can see in this clip I did not have any moving cars near me, do you mean you were doing some similar flying and you were almost hit by a car?

  • is this paragliding for people with acrophobia

  • Intresting, your account now shows up as 'closed'....

True... Acrophobics could watch THIS clip with no worries...

BTY as I teach (and of course fly) basic & advanced thermal flying to my 'ridge ready' students, both using the Dual Control Tandem and solo gliders with radio instructions I don't have any problem with height :-)

BTY My best height gain in Scotland is 5,600ft, with max climbs easily exceeding 1,000ft/min :-)

  • ok i take your comments on board, and i admit i was typing whilst your video was on,and did see you perhaps 40feet of ground, so i"ll appauligise, but im sure you"ll agree its not very "thrilling " viewing? send a link if you can then please as to 1 of your "flight" that might excite me? ps , i now stay in tayport, and see your skoda parked when your "flying"

  • No sweat.

Remember GOOD SAFE aviation is not meant to be 'thrilling', PRECISION PARAGLIDING is all about skill and precision!

NB: I do a LOT of aerobatic flying... both High & Low level flying, moving past steel railings at ground speeds exceeding 30mph and clearence of under 6" tends to 'excite' the viewers... (relaxing stuff for me :-)

PS It's my sisters car (undergoing chemo so I'm on driving duty this year)

PPS We have a dozen sites Tayport/Bridges area

  • You are so bloody GOOD, its irritating........;-)

    Great control !

  • :-)

    'Crazy like a Fox'......

  • Quote from your first comment:

'..you ever been of the ground more than 10 feet?'

Well even IF this was the only one of my videos you've ever watched....

In this clip there are a number of segments where I am clearly well above '10 feet above the take off''.......

And of course despite the Layby ridge it's self only being about 20ft high it is on a gentle slope...

So just how do you think all YouTube viewers SHOULD view your '10 feet' 'comment'?

    As 'stupid' perhaps...

  • Of course you are entitled to your opinion.

Just as I view the trully appaling BHPA accident, injury & death rate a indicator of their training 'standards', not to mention the fact you can gain a BHPA CP rating with as little as a total of 20 mins airtime!

With no crashes/failed launches etc. it is perhaps reasonable to regard this video as an 'anti-climax'.

But it IS exactly as titled!

NB: In a typical half hour visit to this small site I will spend about 25 mins actually FLYING!
