WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne (Wc3 TFT)

Following the battle, Arthas left Illidan lying motionless in the snow and ascended to the Frozen Throne, where he merged with the Lich King. It is unclear what happened to Illidan afterwards, but he did indeed survive and return to Outland, whether he travelled under his own power or had to be taken back by Kael and Vashj and nursed back to health. According to IMDb, "The in-game animation between Illidan and Arthas was originally planned to be a video cinematic. Time constraints, however, forced the scene to be done inside the game. The developers have said that their greatest regret about this change is that many assumed Illidan died, when the video would have revealed that Illidan survived to watch Arthas's transformation." Illidan then escaped back to Outland, where he will soon be a fightable boss character in the MMORPG "World of Warcraft."

Undead Scourge

The horrifying Undead army called the Scourge consists of thousands of walking corpses, disembodied spirits, damned mortal men and insidious extra-dimensional entities. The Scourge was created by the Burning Legion for the sole purpose of sewing terror across the world in anticipation of the Legion's inevitable invasion. The Undead are ruled by Ner'zhul, the Lich King, who lords over the icy realm of Northrend from his frozen throne. Ner'zhul commands the terrible plague of undeath which he sends ever southward into the human lands. As the plague encroaches on the southlands, more and more humans fall prey to Ner'zhul's mental control and life-draining sickness every day. In this way, Ner'zhul has swelled the ranks of the already considerable Scourge. Though Ner'zhul and his Undead Scourge are bound to the will of the Burning Legion, the Lich King constantly strives to free himself and gain vengeance upon the demons for damning him so completely.

  • @EsotericSanity I think Arthas killed quite a few innocents, too, and he may or may not be coming back. The new Lich King isn't a very strong personality, and I don't know how many WoW fans actually care about the storyline, so they may or may not care either way. Quite a few of them don't seem to know much about the RTS, that's for sure.

  • @Grungekid101 .....continued

but dont fret, Chris metzen sneakily asked if People wanted a redemption for illidan, a lot were cheering for it and that was genius of him doing that, cause hes running out of ideas. If he didn't ask and still came out with Illidan 3.0 ppl would have flipped and used the "BT was only a setback" joke. But asking blizzcon if they wanted a Redemption story, gives him an excuse now.

so yeah, your going to get Illidan back...again. As a god guy after he killed innocents.

  • @Grungekid101

Chris Metzen said those rpg books are not canon, they were there for the Roleplaying Card game.

Just cause you like a character, doesnt mean its a waste to kill them(I liked Illidan a lot and Arthas more, both are dead)

    10years of nothing isn't History :P

  • @EsotericSanity To be fair, I don't think they recorded Illidan as being dead in the first Warcraft RPG source material, which was released prior to WOW. Also, I really liked Illidan as a character and it would have been kind of a waste to have killed him in just one game... not to mention anti-climactic considering he has a ten thousand year history. In any case, I'll agree with you that the storyline has been terribly warped to set the stage for WoW as a pop phenomenon.

  • Epic is a small refer for this moment. Very small.

  • @undead4500 kills Illidan(Pre-WoW) that means he killed Illidan and it got got Retcon'd which goes back to my point of selling out the story for wow.

p.s. incase you dont know what a retcon is, its where they change the story

  • @EsotericSanity

illden never died at arthas he was only wounded

  • The frozen throne ending made me cry.

How could a guy such as arthas do this?!? He became what he was dutied to destroy and got mad with revenge and power. It hurts me to see him this miserable

  • yep

  • The Frozen Throne is locate in the northren or in Icecrown Glaciar (i think)
