"The Shack" by William P. Young, or Paul Young, is currently without a doubt the most popular book within Christian circles. In fact, its popularity is so widespread that is currently the seventh bestselling book on Amazon.com.

But should Christians be reading this book? Many other Christians, such as Matt Slick, have accused "The Shack" of teaching heresy regarding God's nature, especially the Trinity.

Matt Slick of CARM (Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry) interviews William Young, the author, in this clip and exposes some of the errors in the book. This clip is from Matt Slick's radio show, "Faith and Reason" and is from carm.org.

  • Matt Slick is losing more people to the Darkness than he will ever win to the Light.

Please quit while you're behind Matt. Stop being Judge and Jury and let God's Light shine.

  • Kenny, is there something wrong with standing behind the teachings of Scripture?

  • Using Scripture to debate a Fictional Story only makes Matt look silly. Critisizing Wm Young for using an African American Women to represent God also tells me he probably didn't read the book since later an Old White Man was used . Either way , for Matt to quote Scripture to say God can't be seen, what about the story in Gen 32 when Jacob wrestled with God ? In Gen 32:31 it says,"So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel---"For I have seen the Divine face to face, yet my life was spared.

  • Kenny, Jacob saw the pre-incarnate Christ, not the Father or Jesus' divine nature. But anyways, the point is, why do you accuse Matt of being judgmental when he is simply standing for what Scripture teaches? Is there something wrong with that?

  • Matt does a great job with debates. This proves what others have been saying about The Shack: It promotes a universalist god; one who can and will be anything to anybody, as long as it's what they want him to be.

  • YES! I heard this live it's awsome, I really hope alot of ppl find this video and relize the truth

  • Matt slick is having difficulty with the "frame within a frame device" that author's use. The epilogue and the prologue can all be a part of this frame.

He is also not familiar with the creation of a persona. Many created personalities do maintain that the events actually happened, for example Robinson Crusoe but in no way is it ever understood that Robinson Crusoe actually lived. Matt could stand to take a good literature course. I do not speak here of theology which may be questioned.

  • The afterward is part of the "frame within a frame" structure that often fiction writers use. Matt is also having trouble with the creation of a persona.

Now, this is not a commentary on the theology however, but Matt is definitely not familiar with writing devices.

  • Well if you are admitting that this moral standard is completely relative, then why are you telling me that my God is immoral? Are you're REALLY telling me is that you don't LIKE my God, are you not?

  • Actually, the average Muslim really doesn't know why they believe what they believe. That's why muslim teachers tell them not to debate christians. They are clueless and follow islam because their parents did.

  • The relative moral standard created by my brain as a result of social evolution, and personal experience.
