I'm really happy about the season he's having and I just wish he could have done that when he was a Ranger. Maybe he's more relaxed in Montreal (that sounds strange considering that no city in the NHL has more press coverage and demanding fans like Montreal). He's only 35 and I hope he's got 4 good years or more left. I always felt that Kovalev tried to do the impossible when he was a Ranger even when the situation required he just do the simple thing. He's a mega-talent.

I agree with you to a point, but for whatever reason Kovalev still represents some kind of superhero to many...I think you might have to alter your comment after this season as well...especially in a league where it's always "what have you done for me lately". He studied videos of when he was younger and saw how much more fun he was having and it has worked well...he's setting good examples for the kids too. In any event, cheers!

Well if you look at it fom that point of view it does not improve his case. Being that Ovechkin has 48 goals, Bure scored a series clinchig OT goal versus the Flames in 94, Fedorov was MVP etc. Kovalev this year has done well. This is the kind of year he should have every year if he isn't injured.

Good point but it's not all about who has the most goals or points, Kovalev makes clutch goals and is a huge part of any team he plays with.
